The NCACE has the mission of accrediting coach education and coach development programs. Accreditation is the process of ensuring that the curriculum and instruction of a program is capable of meeting its educational goals. This process includes a dedicated peer review of a program’s educational materials for their educational merit and their adherence to a common set of standards for sport coaches. In other words, accredited programs have been vetted by their peers for their ability to develop better coaches.
Accreditation, and its related process, recognition, is guided by the National Standards for Sport Coaches (version 3), developed for the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE).
The National Committee for Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE) is the premier authority on coaching education in the United States. Operating as a program of the United States Center for Coaching Excellence, NCACE offers accreditation and national recognition to sport organizations and institutions responsible for the preparation of coaches at any and all levels of sport.
